Yesterday 3rd of December 2023 was a day of joy in Bukomansimbi District during the confirmation of over 400 Christians at St George Makukulu Church as thousands gathered to witness the holy ceremony. The confirmation ceremony was also conjured with the preparation of the Golden Jubilee ceremony celebrations of the same church.
The great occasion was attended by the Masaka Diocese Bishop Severus Jumba, Senior Presidential Advisor on Political Affairs and Translations Hon Ruth Katushabe, and Parish Priest Kasaga, among others who joined the thousands that had come to be part of the great occasion.
In her speech to the congregation, Hon Ruth Katushabe thanked the Bishop, and the people of Bukomansimbi for always putting God first in everything they do because, without God, nothing good can happen in one’s life.
The Senior Presidential Advisor also preached the President’s message of social-economic transformation an ideology that every citizen of Uganda must adopt if this country is to eradicate itself from poverty. She added that for Uganda to move forward, we must all work hard to join the money economy as it is the only viable avenue to kick poverty from our homes.
The Senior Presidential Advisor also hinted at the point of HIV when she advised the youths to avoid engaging in sexual activities when it is not yet the right time. She also advised people to remain faithful to their partners because once one contracts AIDS, his or her health deteriorates, making the body an easy prey to many diseases.
The Bishop of Masaka Diocese, Serverus Jjumba, thanked the people of Bukomansimbi District for growing coffee on a large scale, saying that for a very long time, coffee, alongside cotton and tea, has been the major cash crop of Uganda, and hence it is a good idea to keep growing coffee as it’s a reliable source of income. The bishop, however, advised the people to also include matooke on the menu of crops they grow because people need food all the time to live and can also heavily earn from it as matooke has a reliable market not only in Uganda but even in entire East Africa.
The Bishop also preached the gospel of loving one another and hinted at the issue of Gender based violence which has become a great problem in so many families in the Country. He said that man and woman were created by God to live happily together not to fight adding that loving one another is a fundamental key to a healthy prosperous family.
The Bishop also advised people to always share the little they have with others especially the needy saying that God rewards those who go the extra mile to help those in need.
The Bishop also thanked Hon Ruth Katushabe for the tremendous work she is doing in her office adding that he has been watching and following her on several forums empowering people especially the girl child as well as preaching the gospel of social economic transformation. He appealed to the Senior Presidential Advisor to continue with this good spirit as she is touching and changing many lives in the country.
