In May this year, the Ministry of Health launched the campaign dubbed ‘Under the Net’, which is carried out in a wave-based manner and distribution started in districts with the highest prevalence of malaria.
Early this morning, DRDC Hakim Kirigwa was chairing an entry meeting for the distribution of mosquito nets, and the Ministry of Health team led by Ms. Keinembabazi Anna, who’s in charge of M and E, called upon members of the community to pick up their mosquito nets and use them effectively to avoid malaria spread.
Uganda has one of the highest global burdens of malaria cases, as per the WHO.
“If we take the preventive measures seriously, i.e., clearing the areas around us and draping mosquito nets over our beds, among others,. Ingredient number four, as H.E. the President said during the Independence Day celebrations this year, was focusing on social infrastructure, which includes hospitals; therefore, the mosquito nets once distributed will help our population maintain their health.”.
