Police in Apac district is holding in custody a 15-year old boy for allegedly causing the death of his father.
The juvenile identified as Ronald Omara, 15, had returned to his father’s home at Otuculuk village, Ibuje Sub-County in Apac District to spend the festive season with the family.
It is alleged that the suspect at about 8pm on the night of January 3rd, 2024 sat together with his father, Charles Aliro, aged 52, before they started arguing. This promted the suspect to pick up a piece of stick hitting the father on the head.
SP Patrick Jimmy Okema, the North Kyoga Regional Police spokesperson confirmed the incident, saying the victim fell and collapsed during the attack.
The deceased fell down, and neighbor was informed. He later picked the Aliro, but unfortunately he was already dead. The body was conveyed to Apac Hospital Mortuary,” says the Police Spokesperson, SP Okema.
Okema added that “The suspect was subsequently handed over to Apac Central Police Station where a case of murder was prefered against him,”
Police however said, Charles Ogwal, the neighbour who removed the body from the scene before reporting the case to police have since been arrested to aid investigations.
“He has been arrested to help police to investigate why he hurriedly pick up the body from the scene and took it to the mortuary, before the scene of crime team could conduct an assessment,” SP Okema told NilePost.
Okema said investigators have started reconstructing the crime scene while the deceased body is pending postmortem examination at Apac Hospital.
