The Democratic Party is set to hold its delegates’ conference in August 2024, party Secretary General Gerald Siranda has revealed. The delegates’ conference will be preceded by village council elections slated to kick off in March this year.
Siranda says the party’s National Executive Committing meeting will sit on February 25, 2024 to discuss the planned activities.
“All members intending to vie for any elective positions within the party structures are encouraged to stand,” he said.
However, members intending to stand for member of parliament positions will not be allowed to contest for the party presidency.
Siranda also warned against disunity in the party, saying breakaways will not achieve much.
“Let us all work together within the party,” he said.
