As Uganda prepares to bid farewell to the late State Minister for Defence, Sarah Mateke, countless Ugandans have come forward to express their deep sorrow over her passing. The country is united in mourning the loss of a leader whose commitment to service and unwavering dedication to her duties left an indelible mark on many.
Among those grieving is Ms. Jane Barekye, the State House Comptroller and overall supervisor for the Industrial Hubs program, a presidential initiative aimed at equipping the youth with skills to combat unemployment and reduce poverty among the youths. Barekye, who worked closely with Minister Mateke, shared her heartfelt condolences, describing her colleague as a “hardworking, social, and a noble leader” who served her country with tireless devotion.
“Sarah Mateke was more than a colleague; she was a guiding light in our efforts to empower the youth,” Barekye reflected. “Her support was invaluable, especially in her region, where she passionately championed the Industrial Hubs program. Her influence was felt deeply, and her absence leaves a void that will be difficult to fill. We shall dearly miss her and her services.”
As the nation gathers to honor Minister Mateke’s life and legacy, her impact on countless lives, particularly the girl child will continue to resonate, reminding everyone of her tireless dedication to the betterment of Uganda.
May her soul rest in peace!
