The late former Presidential Press Secretary Hon. Onapito Ekomoloit will be buried on 30th November 2024 in Amuria District.
This is according to the Minister for Presidency and Chairperson of the National Organising Committee (N.O.C), Hon. Babirye Milly Babalanda.
“Following a meeting involving the family and lawyer of the deceased former Member of Parliament for Amuria and Presidential Press Secretary, Hon. Onapito Ekomoloit and the National Organising Committee (N.O.C) at the Cabinet library today, it has agreed to align the burial arrangements with the will of the deceased,” she said in a statement issued on her official X (formerly Twitter) Account.
In his will, the former Amuria County Member of Parliament said he should be buried after 60 days when he dies.
“Therefore, Hon. Onapito will be buried in late November (this year) according to his wishes as contained in the will. N.O.C, the family and Parliament will give an update on final arrangements early in November. We continue to pray for the bereaved to find strength in this trying time. Amen,” Hon. Babalanda noted.
Hon. Onapito who died on Friday 27th September, 2024 at Kampala Hospital after a short illness was yesterday granted an official burial by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
“The President of the Republic of Uganda, H.E @KagutaMuseveni has granted the deceased former Member of Parliament for Amuria and Presidential Press Secretary, Hon. Onapito Ekomoloit, an official burial,” Hon. Babalanda said in a post on X.
