Donald Trump has been sworn in as the 47th US president, promising that the “golden age of America begins right now.”
“From this day forward, our country will flourish and be respected,” he said. “I will very simply put America first.”

Mr Trump also hit out at the Joe Biden administration and its handling of the migrant crisis, saying the country has a crisis of “trust” in its government.He said he has been given a mandate to “completely and totally reverse” what he calls “a horrible betrayal” by those in power against the American people adding that he will give people “their faith, their wealth, their democracy and their freedom.”

Minutes before Trump took the oath, Joe Biden issued pardons for members of his family.
Trump is set to declare a “national emergency” at the US-Mexico border, declare drug cartels as terrorists, and scrap government diversity programmes as part of a blitz of executive orders in the coming hours.
But officials say he won’t announce tariffs on trade partners today.
